<a href="http://www.mindcraft.com">Mindcraft</a>, a commercial company who purportedly conducts independent performance testing for Web servers, issued a <a href="http://www.mindcraft.com/whitepapers/nts4rhlinux.html">report</a>. Detractors have many issues with the report including: Microsoft sponsorship, misconfiguration of Linux/Apache, and an apparent bias for Microsoft in other recent studies. Linux Today has a <a href="http://linuxtoday.com/stories/4992.html">rebuttal</a>, as does <a href="http://slashdot.org/articles/99/04/14/0042212_F.shtml">Slashdot</a>. Many Linux leaders are calling on the community to give Mindcraft a black-eye for the supposedly biased testing methods. This may only be the beginning.
